In the hills of Fuliang County, just outside the historic porcelain capital of Jingdezhen, a new architectural intervention seeks to reconcile the region's industrial past with its ecological future. The Mine Resort, designed by the firm siarchitecture, sits as a 720-square-meter meditation on topography and reclamation. Rather than imposing a rigid structure onto the landscape, the project—aptly titled "Hill"—functions as an extension of the terrain itself.
The design reflects a growing trend in Chinese architecture toward rural revitalization that prioritizes the "spirit of place." By utilizing the specific contours of Wuxi Village, the architects have created a space where the built environment and the natural slope are in constant dialogue. The resort serves as a bridge between the scarred earth of former mining sites and a contemporary desire for immersive, nature-oriented hospitality.
Completed in 2025, the project emphasizes a minimalist aesthetic that allows the textures of the Jiangxi landscape to remain the primary focus. Through strategic placement and a sensitive use of materials, the Mine Resort suggests that the most effective way to restore a landscape is not to hide its history, but to build directly into its scars.
