Shamim Mafi, a 44-year-old Iranian national and U.S. resident, was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport on Saturday for allegedly brokering weapons transfers between Iran and Sudan. Federal prosecutors claim Mafi facilitated the sale of drones, bombs, and ammunition via Atlas International Business, an Oman-based entity. The company reportedly received over $7 million in 2025. Court documents further allege Mafi submitted a letter of intent to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to purchase 55,000 bomb fuses for the Sudanese Ministry of Defense.
