Representative Chip Roy of Texas has introduced the Measures Against Marxism’s Dangerous Adherents and Noxious Islamists (MAMDANI) Act, a legislative proposal targeting noncitizens for their ideological affiliations. The bill seeks to make individuals deportable and ineligible for naturalization based on advocacy for socialism, communism, Marxism, or "Islamic fundamentalism."
Roy characterized the measure as a defense against a "Marxist and Islamist advance" arriving in the U.S. The acronym references New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
