Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) announced the detention of a 57-year-old German citizen in the Stavropol region this week, alleging her involvement in a planned bombing. According to the agency, the woman was discovered with an explosive device equivalent to 1.5 kilograms of TNT. Unverified footage of the arrest shows the woman being apprehended in a parking lot by armed men, followed by the controlled detonation of a backpack by explosives experts.

The FSB has framed the incident as a "false flag" operation orchestrated by Ukrainian intelligence. Russian officials claim the intended target was a local police facility. Alongside the German national, authorities also detained a citizen of a Central Asian country. The FSB asserts that this second individual believed he was acting on behalf of an international terrorist organization, while his actions were allegedly being coordinated by Ukrainian special services operating under that cover.

This arrest introduces a new point of tension in the complex diplomatic landscape between Moscow, Berlin, and Kyiv. While the German Foreign Ministry has acknowledged the reports, it has not yet provided specific details regarding the citizen's status or the validity of the charges. Ukraine has refrained from immediate comment. As is often the case with high-profile security claims in the region, independent verification of the FSB’s narrative remains difficult to establish.
