In the landscape of high-end interiors, USM Haller represents the gold standard of Swiss austerity—a modular system of chrome tubes and powder-coated panels that prioritizes industrial logic above all else. However, for its upcoming appearance at Milan Design Week, the brand is leaning into a rare moment of whimsy. Through a partnership with artist and illustrator Kasing Lung, USM is transforming its rigid geometry into a canvas for "Wonderland of the Monsters."

The collaboration centers on Lung’s "The Monsters," a cast of characters rooted in Nordic folklore and led by the mischievous, grinning Labubu. What began as a cult obsession in the art toy world has rapidly ascended into a global design phenomenon. By applying Lung’s signature illustrations to the USM Haller surfaces, the collection bridges the gap between collectible contemporary art and functional modular design, suggesting that even the most disciplined spaces have room for narrative play.

The immersive showcase, supported by Lane Crawford and How2Work, is scheduled to run from April 20 to April 25, 2026. Alongside the furniture line, the installation will debut a limited-edition collectible titled "Beautiful Thing!" It serves as a notable example of how heritage manufacturers are increasingly looking toward character-driven art to soften the edges of modernism and engage with a new generation of collectors.
